Laycock's Agricultural Chemists provides healthcare products for sheep, cattle, pigs and horses, as well as a wide range of ancillary livestock equipment, minerals and feed supplements.
The firm's history stretches back over 180 years when Laycock's Agricultural Chemists started trading in wholesale provisions and the manufacture of tallow candles. By 1881 W.M. Laycock & Son (Skipton) had begun collaboration with a company specialising in sheep dips, resulting in the manufacture of a dip of their own.
In 1935 the company moved to new premises, becoming one of the first Deosan agents. It also worked closely with the Wellcome Foundation in the development of clostridial vaccines for treating sheep.
Under current proprietor Jeff Marsden (B.Pharm), the business is still run in a traditional manner but incorporates new technology to help farmers cope with the ever changing demands of modern livestock husbandry.
Information is always available about new legislation, planning worming regimes, vaccination programmes etc. - please ask!
As well as the Skipton pharmacy, which also doubles as Head Office, there are branches at Skipton Auction Mart, Malton and Ulverston in Cumbria. The company employs several representatives who cover an area 'coast to coast' in the North of England, with the aim of providing a first class service to all their customers. All staff are AMTRA qualified, which means that they are licensed to give advice on all aspects of animal health.
